"CORI checks will continue to be done on ALL guests. However, based on the state's current backlog in the CORI process (3-4 weeks) and the resulting impediment to the fulfillment of MIHN's primary mission in providing shelter to those in imminent need, the MIHN board has adopted the following interim policy:

CORIs are required for all guests, however, at the Director's discretion guests may be admitted into the Network prior to the return of their completed CORI.

This decision will be determined by the Director based on discussions with the guest's available referral contacts, an in-depth interview between the Director and the guest, and the completion and submission by the guest of all required paperwork and verifications.

The guest will be informed in writing that their stay will be probationary while awaiting their CORI results. They will also be notified in writing that should their CORI return with information that they neglected to provide to the Director they will be terminated from the program. The timeline for said guest to vacate will be based on the seriousness of the guest's violation. Additionally, every guest will be checked against the National Registry of Sex Offenders prior to admittance into the program.

I want to make clear that during this interim period some guests will enter the program prior to their CORI returning while others will not enter until their CORI has been returned. This will be determined on a case by case basis in the best interest of the Network. The Director will not share with the coordinators whose CORI has been returned and whose has not."

Please be assured that as Director, my first priority is to the safety and success of the Network and that making the decision to allow a guest entrance into the program before receiving back their CORI report is a responsibility I take seriously and is a decision I will make only when I am confident I have sufficient information to make that decision. Please feel free to call me with any questions, concerns, etc.
